XenZone, pioneer of online counselling and support, has appointed Professor Shôn Lewis as Medical Director to advise on the evolution and expansion of its digital mental health and emotional wellbeing services for children, young people and adults.
Professor Lewis has degrees in psychology and medicine and trained in psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital. He has been Director of the Institute of Brain, Behaviour and Mental Health the University of Manchester, Chair of the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ Research Committee and a trustee of the mental health charity Rethink Mental Illness.
Professor Lewis’s research interests focus on new interventions for people with schizophrenia and psychosis, including the use of new technologies. He has published 250 research papers and six books. He led the team behind ClinTouch, a mobile app that supports people with psychosis, and is founding director of the digital health social enterprise company Affigo.io.
